British Ecological Society Ecological Research Grant for Africans 2021: The British Society is pleased to announce their innovative ecological research grant for Africans for the 2021 cohort. The grant provides support of up to £8,000 for ecologists in Africa to carry out their research.
The grant was initiated because it was recognized that ecologists in Africa face unique challenges in carrying out research and was designed to develop skills, experience and knowledge base as well as help ecologists establish connections internationally. British Ecological Society supports excellent ecological science in Africa by funding services and equipment.

British Ecological Society Ecological Research Grant | ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible for the British Ecological Society Ecological Research Grant:
- Applicants must be a scientist and a citizen of a country in Africa or its associated islands, that is a ‘low-income economy’ or ‘lower-middle-income economy’ according to the World Bank categorisation.
- Applicants must have at least an MSc or its equivalent degree.
- Applicants must be working for a university or research institution in Africa (including field centres, NGOs, museums etc.) that provides basic research facilities.
- Applicants must carry out the research in a country in Africa or its associated islands.
- Applicants must be willing to abide by the rules and guidelines of the British Ecological Society for grants applications.
