STFC Fully-Funded Scholarship in Data Science at Swansea University: Swansea University through its Department of Physics is pleased to announce scholarship opportunities funded by STFC/College of Science in Particle Physics and Cosmology Theory. The successful applicant will be a part of the 2020 cohort of students of the Data Intensive Centre for Doctoral Training, a three-university consortium formed by cognate research groups at the universities of Bristol, Cardiff and Swansea.
The successful candidate will benefit from specialists training in data science, and undertake a placement at a commercial or industrial partner organization for six-months. Research can be undertaken in numerous areas of interest within the Particle Physics and Cosmology Theory group at Swansea including: Theoretical cosmology and gravitational waves; Hot and dense QCD on the lattice; Physics beyond the standard model; Quantum Field Theories of Condensed Matter.

Scholarship Eligibility and Selection Criteria: To be considered for the STFC Fully-Funded Scholarship in Data Science at Swansea University, applicants are to meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be candidates possessing a first, upper second class honours or a Masters degree with Merit in a relevant discipline.
- Applicants must possess strong research abilities as evident in his/her scholarly publications.
- Applicants whose first language is not English is required to have IELTS 6.5 (with 6.0 in each component) or equivalent. Applicants are to ensure that they already meet the English language requirements at the point of application.
- Applicants must be willing to abide by the guidelines governing the conducts of students at Swansea University.

- Applicants should use the ‘Supplementary Personal Statement’ section of the application form to indicate, in broad terms, their proposed research interests within the activities of the Particle Physics and Cosmology Theory group.
