Eligibility Criteria | Sciences Po Mastercard Foundation Scholarships 2027
Applicants for the Sciences Po Mastercard Foundation Scholarships Program are require to meet the following criteria:
- Be a citizen of a country within Sub-Saharan Africa. Candidates with a second citizenship from the European Economic Area are ineligible.
- Have completed or be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree programme at one of Sciences Po’s institutions of reference (see list here).
- Or have completed or are currently enrolled in a training foundation or mentoring programme offered by a bridging programme organisation partnering with the Mastercard Foundation (see list here).
- Be in genuine need of funding for your higher education (please note: documents proving your financial situation will be required for your application).
- Show a commitment to achieving change in Africa, particularly in the areas of public policy and major political, environmental and societal transitions.
- Be aged under 35 as at the commencement of your Master’s programme.
- Not already holding or completing a Master’s degree.
- Be applying for a two-year Master’s programme at one of Sciences Po’s seven Graduate Schools. Applicants for one-year Master’s, dual degrees or joint Master’s programmes are not eligible for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.

Application Procedure
Applicants for the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship 2027 must first gain acceptance into a Master’s program at one of Sciences Po’s seven Graduate Schools. Ensure to apply for your chosen Master’s program and the Scholars Program using the international graduate admissions procedure.

- A proof of identity (passport, national identity card, UNHCR card, or travel document).
- A bachelor’s degree certificate or a proof of your current undergraduate studies at a university included in the list of reference institutions.
- Or, if your university is not on the list, proof that you have completed, or are currently completing, a Bachelor’s degree (transcript, diploma, or certificate), and a certificate confirming successful completion of a recognised bridge programme).
- Alternatively, proof that you have completed, or are currently completing, a Bachelor’s degree and supporting documentation confirming your refugee status.
