About the Scholarship /Description:

The Brownlie scholarship was established in 1998 in recognition of the outstanding contribution to the development of the University of Canterbury by Professor Albert Brownlie, Vice-Chancellor 1977-1998 and Head of Economics 1965-1977. The scholarship aims to support students for study towards a research doctoral degree at the University of Canterbury. It is awarded annually to incoming or existing doctoral students with an outstanding academic records and leadership potentials.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria: The Brownlie Scholarships for International Postgraduate Students at University of Canterbury open to the following eligibility criteria;

• International students are eligible to apply
• Candidates should either be registered full-time doctoral students or prospective student to begin study in the upcoming academic session of the University of Canterbury
• Candidates may not currently be benefitting from similar students funding programs
• Selection criteria is subject to the scholarship committee ranking process.

Application Procedures for the Brownlie Scholarships for International Postgraduate Students at University of Canterbury – How-to-Apply:

There is usually no separate applications to be accepted for this scholarship;  An application for a University of Canterbury Doctoral Scholarship constitutes an application for the Brownlie Scholarship.

A competition ranking of top candidates will be done for candidates applying in October for a University of Canterbury Doctoral Scholarship together with those who have been selected for a University of Canterbury Doctoral Scholarship after having applied in May of the same year and will be automatically considered for the Brownlie Scholarship.
