TWAS Research Professor Programme

Applications are welcomed from suitably qualified applicants for the TWAS Research Professors in LDCs. The programme will afford TWAS Fellows and TWAS Young Affiliates/Alumni the opportunity to visit the host institution in a LDC for a period of two to four weeks.

The programme will provide institutions and research groups located in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) with the opportunity to establish long-term links with TWAS members and TWAS Young Affiliates/Alumni to assist in research activities and advanced training and so help develop the local scientific capacities needed..

TWAS Research Professors | DETAILS

To be considered for the TWAS Research Professors in LDCs, applicants are to meet the following criteria:

  • Requests are accepted from research groups and scientific institutions in Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
  • This programme only provides support for visits of TWAS Members and TWAS Young Affiliates/Alumni to Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
  • Applicants must be in possession of a PhD degree.
  • Be able to stay at the h.ost institution for about two to four weeks

Application Procedures

How-to-Apply: Interested applicants for the TWAS Research Prrofessor Programmes complete the online application form. While filling in the online application, the following documentation needs to be uploaded:

  • Brief CV of the Visiting Expert (maximum 10 pages) and list of publications;
  • Letter from the Visiting Expert detailing the research and teaching programme with which he/she could assist at the host institute.
  • Supporting statement from the head of the institution.

Please be advised that applicants may apply for only one programme per calendar year in the TWAS and OWSD portfolio. Applicants will not be eligible to visit another institution in that year under the TWAS Visiting Professor programmes. One exception: the head of an institution who invites an external scholar to share his/her expertise under the TWAS Visiting Professor programmes may still apply for another programme.
