Routledge/Round Table Commonwealth Studentships 2020/21: Applications are invited from qualified candidates to apply for the 2020/21 Round Table: Routledge-ACU (Association of Commonwealth Universities) PhD studentship scholarship for international students. Studentships are available each year to the maximum value of GBP 5500 each and provide support for research projects on Commonwealth related themes.

 

The Routledge/Roundtable Scholarship is open to registered PhD students from UK universities and also to registered PhD students from ACU member universities anywhere in the Commonwealth, and to Chevening and Commonwealth Scholarship alumni who are PhD students at any Commonwealth university outside the UK.

Scholarship level: Postgraduate (PhD)

Scholarship Worth: GBP 5500

Subject Eligibility: Postgraduate courses tenable at the participating universities

Country/Candidate Eligibility: The scholarship is for both UK and international Commonwealth students.

Scholarship Eligibility and Selection Criteria: To be considered for the Routledge/Round Table Commonwealth Studentships 2020/21, applicants are to meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be students enrolled in a full-time course at any UK universities or any Commonwealth universities.
  • Applicant’s research theme must relate to the Commonwealth as a whole or to any Commonwealth-wide institution or organisation. It should have a strong Commonwealth comparative aspect or be relevant to a Commonwealth country other than the UK.
  • Applicants must have obtained good grades in relevant Master’s degree course from a recognized university.
  • Applications are welcome from a broad range of disciplines in the humanities and social sciences, but preference may be given to disciplines usually covered by the Round Table journal, including (but not exclusively) politics, international history, geography, law, development studies, and area studies.

How-to-Apply

Applications should be submitted via the online application form before the application deadline. Applicants are to attach the following documents as part of their submissions:

  • A CV
  • A studentship plan, outlining the work plan to carry out during the studentship in non-technical language; the likely impact of the studentship work and how it will advance knowledge in your field and contribute to greater understanding of the Commonwealth; the planned outcomes and outputs of the studentship.
  • Letters of support from referees, one academic (preferably your PhD/DPhil supervisor) and one personal.
  • An outline of the intended use of the funds.
