2019/2020 Korean Government Scholarships for Developing Countries

2019/2020 Korean Government Scholarships for Developing Countries: The Korean government has open application for students of the Developing Countries to apply for scholarships in about 60 participating Korean Universities. Up to 1000 scholarships are awarded to Non-Korean Students every year. Application begins for the 2019/2020 Korean Government Scholarships Scheme.

Scholarship level: Scholarships are available for Undergraduate and Masters Degree Studies.

Slots: More than 1000 scholarships available.

Scholarship Worth: The scholarships will cover full tuition, air-ticket, stipend, medical insurance, settlement allowance and completion Grants

Subject Eligibility: Scholarships available to study courses tenable in any of the Korean Universities

Country/Candidate Eligibility: Scholarships available to students of Developing Countries (see detailed countries below)

English Language Requirement: Program structure requires students will undergo Language Training.



Scholarship Details:

The Korean Government Scholarship is awarded to about 780 Non-Korean students from 156 countries, usually Developing Countries, for degree (Master’s & Doctoral) and non-degree research programs in about 60 participating Korean higher institutions.

The countries of eligibility include;

Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belarus, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cote d’Ivoire, Croatia Czech, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Dominica, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Fiji, France, Gabon, Georgia, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Guatemala, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haïti, Honduras, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Libya, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldavia, Mongolia, Morocco, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Papua, New Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Qatar, Republic of South Africa, Romania, Russia, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Seychelles, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Sweden, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Uruguay, USA, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vietnam, Yemen, Zambia.

Scholarship Eligibility and Basic Requirements: The following are basic eligibility conditions to be considered.

  • Candidates and their parents must hold non-Korean citizenship.
  • KGSP-G (graduate program): under 40 of age
  • KGSP-U (undergraduate program): under 25 of age
  • Candidates must be physically and mentally healthy for their studies in Korea.
  • KGSP-G (graduate program): Holds a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • KGSP-U (undergraduate program): Holds a High school diploma
  • The cumulative grade point average (CGPA) must be 80% or higher; or
  • The CGPA must be 2.64/ 4.0, 2.80/ 4.3, 2.91/ 4.5, or 3.23/ 5.0 or higher.

Stages of Selection:

1st Stage: Applicants submit their applications either to the Korean Embassies around the world or to the partering universities in Korea. The embassies and universities select the successful candidates among the applicants in the 1st round of selection. The applicants of the successful candidates will then be forwarded to NIIED

2nd Sage: The NIIED selection committee selects the successful candidates among those who passed the 1st round.

3rd Stage: Among the successful candidates who have passed the 2nd round, the applications of those who applied through the Korean Embassies will be reviewed by universities for admission. Successful candidates must get admission from at least one of the universities.
