Program Overview

The ICSID Internship Program provides graduate students with the opportunity to work within the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, an institution of the World Bank Group that administers international investment disputes.

Selected interns may be assigned to either a case management team or an institutional team, where they work under the supervision of experienced ICSID Counsel and senior officials.

The internship is based primarily in Washington, D.C., and offers participants practical exposure to international investment dispute settlement and the operations of a major international institution.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the ICSID Internship Program, applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled in a graduate programme.
  • Provide written confirmation from their university that they will either receive academic credit for at least one term/semester or receive a stipend from their university for the duration of the internship.
  • Have or be able to obtain an F-1 or G-4 visa, or be a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder.
  • Be able to cover their travel, accommodation and living expenses in Washington, D.C.
  • Meet the internship requirements of their university.
  • Have an interest in international investment law, arbitration or dispute settlement.
