The World Health Organization (WHO) and Science Africa welcomes applications from African journalists and media trainers for a three-day training workshop for journalists in Nairobi, Kenya, from 16-18 July 2024.
The workshop will also include the official launch of the WHO Africa Regional Report on Road Safety. The aim is to equip journalists to report on key road safety issues and help them to train others.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants are expected to meet the following conditions for the WHO Road Safety Reporting Training for African Journalists:
- Applicants must be a journalist
- Applicants must be a media trainer
- Applications are open to journalists and media trainers from Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Ethiopia and Tanzania.
- After the training, participants may apply for grants to support reporting or training on road safety with mentoring provided by the Science Africa team.
The Road Safety Reporting Initiative aims to help journalists tell more and better stories that help reduce deaths from road crashes. As part of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety, it offers training, mentoring, tools and resources to help journalists dig deeper into the issue.
