Scholarship Overview
The UWA Global Excellence Scholarship is designed to recognise high-achieving international students commencing eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework studies at the University of Western Australia.
The scholarship is provided as an annual tuition fee discount for the normal full-time duration of the recipient’s course, as specified in the student’s offer letter.
For students commencing in 2027, the scholarship provides either a 10% or 20% tuition fee reduction, depending on the applicant’s academic achievement.
Students from all countries may be considered for the scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the UWA Global Excellence Scholarship 2027, applicants must:
- Be an international student.
- Have received an offer for an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate course at the University of Western Australia for 2027 commencement.
- Meet the required academic threshold for the relevant scholarship value.
- Not have discontinued an equivalent-level course followed by an immediate break in enrolment.

Undergraduate Eligibility
Undergraduate applicants must be applying for an eligible:
- Undergraduate course;
- Combined bachelor’s degree;
- Combined bachelor’s and master’s degree; or
- Assured Pathway course.
The following Assured Pathways are excluded:
- Assured Pathway to Medicine.
- Assured Pathway to Dental Medicine.
Undergraduate scholarship values are determined by the applicant’s equivalent Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR):
- ATAR 85.00–89.95: 10% tuition fee discount.
- ATAR 90.00 or above: 20% tuition fee discount.
International and overseas qualifications are assessed against their equivalent Australian academic standards.
Postgraduate Eligibility
Applicants must be applying for an eligible postgraduate coursework programme at UWA.
The following programmes are excluded:
- Juris Doctor (20820).
- Doctor of Medicine (91850).
- Doctor of Dental Medicine (91860).
- Doctor of Optometry (91590).
- UWA Micro-credentials.
Postgraduate scholarship values are determined by the applicant’s UWA Weighted Average Mark (WAM) or equivalent:
- WAM 65.00–74.99: 10% tuition fee discount.
- WAM 75.00 or above: 20% tuition fee discount.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful international students receive an annual tuition fee reduction for the normal full-time duration of their eligible UWA course.
The scholarship provides:
- 10% tuition fee discount for eligible undergraduate students with an equivalent ATAR of 85.00–89.95.
- 20% tuition fee discount for eligible undergraduate students with an equivalent ATAR of 90.00 or above.
- 10% tuition fee discount for eligible postgraduate students with a WAM of 65.00–74.99.
- 20% tuition fee discount for eligible postgraduate students with a WAM of 75.00 or above.
The scholarship applies for the normal full-time duration of the course specified in the recipient’s offer letter.
Recipients must also satisfy the University’s academic and enrolment requirements to retain the scholarship throughout their studies.

How to Apply
A separate application for the Global Excellence Scholarship is not required. Eligible international students are automatically considered when applying for admission to the University of Western Australia.
Interested applicants should:
- Select an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programme at UWA.
- Submit an application for admission to the chosen programme through the University’s application process.
- Provide all required academic documents, including your final academic transcripts.
- UWA Admissions will assess your final academic results and determine whether you meet the Global Excellence Scholarship requirements.
- If successful, details of the scholarship and applicable tuition fee discount will be included in your offer documentation.
- Accept your UWA offer and scholarship according to the instructions provided by the University.
Students whose final transcripts are not yet available may initially receive a conditional admission offer without the scholarship. Once final transcripts are submitted, UWA will assess the student for the Global Excellence Scholarship.
