TWAS Research Grants Programme for Individuals in Basic Sciences: The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Research Grants Programme is pleased to announce the award of grants to individuals in one of the S&T-lagging nations identified by TWAS who are involved in high-level research projects in the field of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
The TWAS Research Grants Programme in Basic Sciences was initiated to respond to the needs of scientists in developing nations especially those in institutions that lack the appropriate research facilities. The grant seeks to build and sustain units of scientific excellence in S&TLC over a longer period to help them achieve a high level of innovative and qualified scientists with the ability to address real-life challenges plaguing their countries.

TWAS Research Grants Programme for Individuals in Basic Sciences | ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be considered for the TWAS Research Grants Programme for Individuals in Basic Sciences 2021, you must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be citizens of developing countries. They must possess a PhD, be at the beginning of their careers but already have some research experience. Applicants must hold a position at a university or research institution in one of the S&TLCs and be under 45 years of age.
- Applicants must at the time of application not have an active research grant with TWAS or OWSD Early Career Women Scientists (ECWS) Fellowship.
- Applicants are to submit a strong Research Proposal which is related to the eligible field as stated by TWAS.
- Applicants must be willing to abide by the guidelines as provided by TWAS to grant awardees in the event that they are finally awarded the grant.
