Applications are welcomed from suitably qualified candidates for the King’s Commonwealth Scholarship 2026-2027. Applicants who are interested in driving real change in education, healthcare, and climate resilience are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.

The programme provides three carefully designed pathways to support different professional as well as academic pursuit including PhD Fellowships, Climate Resilience Fellowships, and Undergraduate Scholarships.

The King’s Commonwealth Scholarships 2026 | Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the King’s Commonwealth Scholarships, Applicants must meet the following requirements:

For PhD Applicants:

  • Applicants with a Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Due to commence or already enrolled in a PhD research degree programme at a ACU SIDS member university in the 2025/26 academic year with an aim to complete the PhD degree (please see list of universities below).
  • If you are staff member at a ACU member university in the SIDS and have not enrolled in a PhD programme, you can still apply.
  • PhD subject area falls within one of the 4 KCFP research areas (Climate change/environment, Education, Engineering and Health).
  • Applicants with citizenship or refugee status in a Commonwealth SIDS. The following countries are eligible:

For KCFP Climate Resilience Fellowships:

  • Mid-career professionals (across any sector) working in a climate adaptation practice-related role. Mid-career is defined as 5-15 years of direct or related experience to climate adaptation practice (or equivalent) – not job title.
  • Applicants must have a planned commitment to 10-20 years of increasingly responsible roles withing this field.
  • Applicants must be employed at an organisation registered in an eligible country with a contract up to at least February 2027.
  • Applicants must be citizens of or have refugee status in an eligible country.
  • Applicants’ permanent home must be in an eligible country.

For Undergraduate Scholarship:

  • Applicants must be enrolled in an eligible programme in a partner university.
  • Must be from an eligible country.

Asia: The Maldives

Caribbean and Americas: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and Grenadines, The Cayman Islands and Trinidad and Tobago

Pacific: Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea PNG, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu
