The Taiwan Ministry of Education (MOE) is currently offering twenty scholarships to African lecturers (doctoral studies are prioritized) who are interested in pursuing master’s or doctoral studies in Taiwan beginning in September 2022.
The Taiwan MOE has established the Africa Elite Scholarship Programme in order to help Africa cultivate high-level professionals and to raise the scope of academic exchange.

DETAILS | Africa Elite Scholarship Programme 2022
The majority of scholarships are for postgraduate (masters, doctoral and postdoctoral) studies, while a small number of undergraduate (bachelor’s degree) scholarships are available. Most of the scholarships advertised here are not managed by the DHET, and further information is only available from the agency or government concerned.
Each offer has its own entry requirements and eligibility criteria. Please read through the information carefully and ensure that you meet all the minimum criteria and adhere to the submission deadlines.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for Africa Elite Scholarship Programme, applicants are expected to meet the following conditions:
- A Taiwanese national or an overseas Taiwanese student
- Applicants who already has and is continuing to maintain student status at any university or tertiary college in Taiwan or a person who used to study in Taiwan as exchange student or double major. This restriction does not apply to a student who will complete a degree and graduate that year. They may apply for a Taiwan Scholarship to pursue a higher degree
- Applicants who has already studied in Taiwan for a degree at the same level as the one in which they intend to enrol
- Applicants who has held an Africa Elite Scholarship Programme Scholarship for over three years
- Applicants who has received any other scholarship or subsidy from any education institution in Taiwan.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants for Africa Elite Scholarship Programme in TAIWAN, will receive the following benefits:
- The scholarship offers a monthly allowance of NT$25,000 (R13, 247.09), which covers tuition and miscellaneous expenses (such as insurance, Internet fee, dorm accommodation)
