For medicine, one can either study at the University of Malta or Queen Mary University, Malta which is a subdivision of Queen Mary University, London.

Queen Mary University London is one of the best medical schools in the UK. An MBBS certificate obtained from QMU, Malta is just as significant as one obtained from the London campus. In terms of selection criteria, curriculum content and mode of delivery both MBBS programs are very much alike. The MBBS program in Malta campus is in fact handled by the faculty of medicine Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL.

On the other hand, the University of Malta is a highly recognized university with a relatively long history of quality medical education. Entry Requirements

Queen Mary University:

  • At QMU, applicants must be at the age of 18 and above. While there is no upper age limit, students below 18 are required to apply for a deferred admission entry until they turn 18.
  • Applicants must possess a 3 A ‘levels or its equivalent at one sitting in biology, chemistry or a second science subject which can be any of mathematics or physics and at least a grade B in any other subject apart from critical thinking and general studies.
  • All applicants sitting for the medicine program must take the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT). Your performance will be a determining factor in getting an interview or not.
  • The language of tutoring is English therefore international students are required to have an IELTS score of 7.0
  • Tuition fees for all students is 27,000 euros. Students are either to pay in full before enrolment or make a part payment of 50% with an agreement to pay the other 50% at a certain time of agreement.

University of Malta:

  • International students at the University of Malta are required to take the TOEFL exams and score at least 6.0. This is an exception to nationals of English-speaking countries.
  • Applicants are mandated to satisfy the General Entry Requirements for admission, which includes, the Matriculation Certificate and Secondary Education Certificate in Maltese, English Language and Mathematics.
  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in any of the Medical Sciences, pharmacy and dental surgery must have at least a second-class honor.
  • Tuition Fees for local EU and EEA applicants is free while for non-EU and non-EEA applicants’ tuition fees per academic year is 26,000 euros.
