Research Fellowship at Swisspeace Institute Switzerland: Applications are invited from suitably qualified students for the Research Fellowship at the Swisspeace Institute, Basel-Switzerland. Swisspeace is a research and practice institute dedicated to advancing effective peacebuilding.
Successful applicants will be enrolled in the Mediation Program and complete a PhD at the University of Basel as part of the Swiss National Science Foundation project. The candidate will develop and conduct high-quality research on the thematic areas for the program. The program offers a fully-funded, 4-year PhD position in a unique context that combines academic research with exposure to the spheres of policy and practice.

Program Eligibility and Selection Criteria: To be considered for the Research Fellowship at Swisspeace Institute Switzerland, applicants must ensure that they meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must have obtained a master’s degree in social sciences preferably political science, international relations, peace and conflict studies, or a related discipline.
- Fulfilment of the requirements for a doctorate at the University of Basel with proven capacity for high level academic work.
- Applicants must possess excellent English language skills, particularly writing and be familiar with potential case study contexts, i.e. Central Africa/Cameroon, or cases in the Middle East, Asia, or Latin America, is an asset including respective language skills, i.e. French, Arabic, or other languages.
- Interest to conduct research on past and ongoing mediation processes.
- Applicants must possess experience in conducting field research and of using qualitative research method, such as elite interviews or process tracing.
- Interest in the practice of mediation and peacebuilding and in an environment where researchers and practitioners interact and benefit from synergies.
