The Mo Ibrahim Leadership Fellowship provides outstanding African professionals with an opportunity to develop their leadership capabilities while working within leading multilateral institutions. Fellowship Overview

The Ibrahim Leadership Fellowships were established to identify and mentor the next generation of outstanding African leaders.

Each year, three Fellows are selected, with one placed at each of the programme’s partner institutions:

• African Development Bank (AfDB) – Abidjan
• United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) – Addis Ababa
• International Trade Centre (ITC) – Geneva

During the 12-month placement, Fellows gain practical experience while contributing to research, policy development and other strategic work within their host institution.

A major feature of the programme is the opportunity to receive direct mentorship from the heads of the host organisations. After completing the fellowship, participants also become members of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation’s Now Generation Network (NGN).

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the Mo Ibrahim Leadership Fellowship should meet the following core requirements:

• Be a national of an African country.
• Have at least seven years of relevant professional experience.
• Hold a Master’s degree.
• Be under 40 years of age, or under 45 for women with children.
