FSNet-Africa Fellowship 2021 for Early Career/Senior Researchers: The Food Systems Research Network for Africa (FSNet-Africa) is pleased to announce the opening of the application process for the FSNet-Africa Fellowship 2021 for Early Career Researchers working on African food systems research. The Fellowship provides the opportunity for the researchers to develop their skills in their area of specialty.
The fellowship will award each fellow up to £20,000 to be used to conduct research on any aspect of the food system. The fellowship’s structured learning activities will help strengthen the researcher’s networks as they develop leadership and science communication skills.

FSNet-Africa Fellowship 2021 | ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible for the FSNet-Africa Fellowship 2021 for Early Career Researchers:
- Early career researchers who obtained their PhD in or after 2011.
- Senior researchers who obtained their PhD before 2011 can apply as mentors
- Researchers are to come from the academic partner institutions of FSNet-Africa
- Applicants must have research focus and/or interests aligned broadly to one or more aspect of African food systems
- Applicant must be a permanent employee of a participating institution OR must have an employment contract at a participating institution in place until at least December 2023.
- Applicants must be endorsed by their line managers (either Director, Head of Department or Dean)
- Applicants must demonstrate strong academic and research abilities.

Step 1: Prepare your application form
Complete the application form provided and also make available a copy of your PhD (or full academic transcript), CV and a peer-reviewed publication.
Step 2: Get endorsement from your line manager
Endorsement should come from either your Director, Head of Department or Dean. They will need to complete the endorsement form.
Step 3: Submit application online
Once you have completed your application form, proceed to submit your application online and attach required documents (Copy of PhD, Endorsement letter, CV, Publication).
Step 4: Notify any mentors to submit expression of interest
If you nominated any mentor in your application form, notify them to submit an expression of interest form.
