Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Australian Government Research Training Program at Sydney 2027, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be a domestic or an international enrolled in an accredited higher degree or research program at the University of Sydney.
- Applicants must have obtained a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution of higher learning.
- intending to enrol or currently enrolled in a PhD,
- have not previously received an Australian Government or University Scholarship to complete an HDR course at the same level,
- have not previously completed an HDR course at the same level of study.

Commencing students
- Apply for admission and submit all required documentation for admission to a higher degree by research through Sydney Courses by the deadlines outlined in the ‘Application and award timeline’ table – these differ for domestic students and international students.
- Submit the scholarship application form by the deadlines.
Currently enrolled students
- Be currently enrolled in a higher degree by research.
- Submit the scholarship application form by the deadlines.
Applicants are to ensure that they select the appropriate boxes in the admissions application form to note that they are interested in being considered for any available scholarships.
