2020 Wales Africa Grants Scheme COVID-19 Response: Applications are now opened for applicants to apply for the 2020 Welsh Government Wales and Africa Grant Scheme for COVID-19 response. The ongoing global effects on the COVID-19 outbreak are being felt differently worldwide. It is Wales’ flagship grant programme for the Wales and Africa initiative, the Wales and Africa Small Grants Scheme will fund groups to work with their African partners to alleviate the impacts of the virus on communities in Africa.

As a response to the pandemic, the Wales and Africa immediate COVID-19 Response will fund requests for Welsh groups to work with African partners to respond to immediate issues arising from the outbreak of COVID-19. The grant has been designed to provide funding to the most urgent and vital requests.

Program Eligibility and Selection Criteria: To be considered for the 2020 Wales Africa Grants Scheme COVID-19 Response, applicants are to meet the following criteria:

• Applicants are to submit requests which are deemed to be responding to the most vital needs in an urgent manner.
• Applicants must submit requests that aim to address gender, disability, and social inclusion- where possible it should be described in the purpose of request.
• The governing document of the applicant’s organization should also be submitted with the request for funding.
• Applications are to cover health system support where testing, contact tracing and monitoring and quarantine efforts will be carried out; clinical intervention to support case management.
• Applications are also to support mental health and psychosocial support wellbeing for the general population.
• Applications may also be submitted in areas where hand washing stations may be set up and also distribute hygiene products in areas with limited access to running water.
• Applications can be submitted also in areas of nutrition and sustainable development, income support and lifelong learning activities.
