The World Trade Organization (WTO) is pleased to invite applications for its Young Trade Leaders Programme, a scheme aimed at fostering a better understanding of the WTO’s work and international trade among young people and creating a network of Young Trade Leaders.
The programme will attract exceptional young people who have a clear understanding of how trade can be of benefit to people and planet. They will bring fresh perspectives and ideas about the role of trade and the WTO. Young leaders are encouraged to apply!

WTO Young Trade Leaders Programme | Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for WTO Young Trade Leaders Programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be between the ages of 18 and 30 on the closing date for applications with a strong interest in international trade
- Be a citizen of a WTO member
- Neither currently affiliated with the WTO, nor have a relative who is currently WTO-affiliated
- Be able to demonstrate a good level of written and spoken English – knowledge of a second WTO working language (French or Spanish) is an asset
- Attuned to the need for diplomacy, show a willingness to respect diverse perspectives, willing to foster understanding of trade issues and promote constructive dialogue
- Be committed to participate fully throughout the one-year programme (July 2024-June 2025).

Application Procedures
How-to-Apply: Interested applicants for the WTO Young Trade Leaders programme are to complete an online application by the application deadline. Applicants should submit their application to [email protected], with the following documents:
- CV (no more than two pages)
- 2-3 minute video in which they briefly introduce themselves, express their interest in the programme and explain the impact they hope to have as a Young Trade Leader
- A written contribution (max. 300 words) answering the following question: What does trade mean for you?
