Wits-TUB-UNILAG Urban Lab PhD Scholarships | DETAILS
The scholarship supported by BMZ and DAAD is one of seven Graduate Schools programme worldwide. The lead partners, the Habitat Unit at Technische Universitat Berlin, the School of Architecture and Planning at Wits University in Johannesburg and the University of Lagos, collaborate in the offering of an urban-oriented graduate training and capacity building that seeks to address the problems and needs of modern urban studies.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Wits-TUB-UNILAG Urban Lab PhD Scholarships 2021, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be an African student willing to study at the partner host institutions.
- Applicants must hold a master’s degree that is equivalent to a master’s degree (NQF level 9) in the South African Qualification System (SAQA).
- Applicants must show English language proficiency.
- Must meet the PhD admission requirements of the School.

Application Procedures
How-to-Apply: Interested applicants for the Wits-TUB-UNILAG Urban Lab PhD Scholarships 2021/2022 are to apply for admission into the PhD degree programme. Applicants are to note that the bursary application form can be found Here. Applicants whose masters degree was not obtained in a South African University are to submit their qualifications for evaluation by SAQA.

- Cover letter explaining why you qualify for the scholarship
- A 4-page research proposal.
- A Curriculum Vitae
- A copy of all degree certificates and official academic transcripts indicating marks for all degrees.
- Electronic copy of any previous research undertaken.
- Letters of recommendations from two referees.
- For masters degree obtained outside of South Africa, a South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) certificate ranking the applicant’s masters degree at NQF level 9.
