COVID-19 is a novel viral disease, and there is no pre-existing immunity in our community. This project will target this need, through design and synthesis of nanoparticles-based antiviral materials and testing their efficiency on different surfaces.

PhD scholarships on Antiviral coating materials | DETAILS
The interdisciplinary nature of the project, and diverse background of researchers within the Rowan group, will provide the candidate with access to cutting edge equipment and training in new research areas such as high-resolution microscopy, rheology and bioengineering. In addition, the project will give a unique opportunity to the candidate to closely work with an industry partner and develop some skills in large-scale production and testing using industry standard facilities. This working environment will prepare the candidate well for a future career in both academia and industry.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
Candidates are expected to meet the following eligibility criteria for the University of Queensland PhD scholarships on Antiviral coating materials
- Applicants must be domestic or international students
- Applicants must be admitted into PhD degree program.
- Have completed their qualifying Masters program of study;
- The award is available for PhD courses in Health, bioengineering and computing offered at the University.
- Have completed their qualifying Masters program of study;
- Coursework master’s degree with an overall grade point average of 5.65 on the 7-point UQ scale which includes relevant research experience, approved by the dean; or
- Postgraduate degree (at least one year full-time or equivalent) with an overall grade point average of 5 on the 7-point UQ scale, together with demonstrated research experience equivalent to honours class IIA will be considered on a case-by-case basis; or
- Bachelor’s degree plus at least 2 years of relevant research experience, including research publications.
- Be a domestic student or an international student at the time of application and enrolment;
- Have completed some research experience
- Have completed an approved university degree and
- Can meet the English language requirements.
