The Government of Canada recently announced the immigration route for artisans such as welders, carpenters and plumbers from other countries, including Nigeria. This move was made so as to make up for the deficit of workers in these fields in order to contribute to nation building.
The announcement was tagged “Canada’s first ever Express Entry invitations for newcomers with experience in the trades”. Express Entry is an online platform utilized by the Government of Canada to give permanent residence status to skilled workers outside Canada.

Here are Other Ways to Immigrate to Canada
#1 Family Sponsorship
Your family members can live, study and work in Canada if they attain the permanent resident status in Canada. You can invite or sponsor some family members to immigrate to Canada if you have attained the age of 18 years and a:
- Canadian citizen or
- person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act or

#2 Express Entry

#6 Self-Employed Persons
This route allows people to immigrate to Canada permanently as a self-employed person. Individuals who are interested in this program must:

- be willing and able to make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada.
#7 Atlantic Immigration Program
This program is the pathway to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers and international graduates from a Canadian institution who want to work and live in one of Canada’s 4 Atlantic provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland and Labrador.
