The scholarships are made available to assist international students to study in New Zealand.
The Citizens from selected developing countries intending to undertake tertiary level study in New Zealand are able to apply for these scholarships to study at AUT.

The purpose of MFAT’s scholarships schemes is to enhance the skills, training and knowledge of selected individuals and thereby build capacity to contribute to the sustainable development of key areas in their home country.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
Candidates are expected to meet the following eligibility criteria for the Auckland University of Technology Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) Scholarships Program
- Applicants must be international students
- Applicants must be admitted into Bachelor and Masters degree program.
- The award is available for bachelor and masters courses offered at the University.
- The Eligibility questionnaire will check in detail if you meet all of the eligibility criteria. The Eligibility questionnaire will check things such as:
- Which country you hold citizenship in
- How long you have been living in your home country
- How much work experience you have
- Whether we provide scholarships to your country
- You must complete the eligibility questionnaire before you can apply for a Scholarship.
- Applicants must have a high school certificate or first degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) from a recognized university or institution of higher education, or provide documentation indicating that they will earn such a first degree before enrolment in Auckland University of Technology master’s program.
- Based on academic merit
- Applicants must have a High school certificate or equivalent
- Students enrolling full time in the Honours program in the semester for which the scholarship is awarded.
Eligible Countries – Pacific Countries, Asian Countries, African Countries, Caribbean Countries, Latin American, Commonwealth Countries.
