Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants for the University of Birmingham Global South Fellowship Programme 2026. The Global South Fellowship Program aims to support the professional development of early-career researchers from universities in the Global South.
The Fellowship promotes research collaboration, partnership development, and further collaboration with the Global South. Applications are welcome in subject areas related to education access and equity, global health, and sustainability and climate action.

University of Birmingham Global South Fellowship| DETAILS
The scheme will provide each visiting fellow with travel expenses of up to £850 and a monthly stipend of £1500 for up to three months to help cover living expenses and accommodation. On campus accommodation can be booked on fellows’ behalf and the cost deducted from the stipend, however there is no guarantee that University accommodation will be available during the fellowship.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Global South Fellowship 2026, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be an early-career researcher
- be nationals of a developing country
- hold a doctorate degree in any field of endeavour.
- be financially responsible for any accompanying family members and for any delay incurred in completing the fellowship.
